H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu) & International Travel

Clemson University takes seriously the possibility of a pandemic flu outbreak, and encourages you to carefully review the following information and to always monitor health conditions and circumstances at your destination.

H1N1 Influenza (Swine Flu)

In the spring of 2009, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the general media reported on an outbreak of human swine flu in three separate areas of Mexico.  In addition, the illness was reported in the U.S. in Texas, California, Kansas, Ohio, New York, and numerous other states.

In May of 2009, the CDC removed its previous recommendation that U.S. travelers avoid travel to Mexico.  See: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/content/travel-health-precaution/novel-h1n1-flu-mexico.aspx. Conditions and recommendations for all parts of the world can change rapidly, you can stay up-to-date on travel recommendations worldwide at: http://wwwn.cdc.gov/travel/.
