All student users of the MATRF are required to
pay a $35 registration fee per semester before they are allowed to
access the lab during open hours. This includes students who have
class in the facility. Payments can be made to Becky Teixeira in the
English Department office in 801 Strode Tower.
The only exceptions to the registration fee
are:
(1) English Department TA's whose fees are underwritten by the English
Department
(2) AAH faculty whose fees are underwritten by the Dean's office.
Payment of the registration fee entitles students to access the
lab during open hours and to use certain lab resources, including
the laser printer. The $35 fee is based on the fact that it costs
approximately $0.10 per page to print on the laser printer and on
the assumption that a student will print an average of 350 pages
over the course of the semester. Since the lab is not funded by
DCIT, the registration fee is necessary to cover some of the costs
of operation. The registration fees are used to purchase consumables
like paper and toner, replace equipment, upgrade software, and maintain
insurance for checkout items, etc.
