CLEMSON – As construction on the Scroll of Honor Memorial continues, Clemson University invites family and friends to honor alumni killed in the line of duty through an electronic tribute.

Clemson is creating a Web page for each of the 468 Clemson alumni who have died in service of their country between World War I and the current wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. This electronic commemorative coincides with the Scroll of Honor Memorial on Williamson Road across from Memorial Stadium.

The Web pages will feature the alumni biographies, as well as information about their military service and times as students. Family, friends and colleagues of these alumni can submit biographical information, personal memories and other comments on the Scroll of Honor Web page at http://cualumni.clemson.edu/scrollofhonor.

The Web site is part of a larger series of projects surrounding the Scroll of Honor. Construction on a commemorative mound began in April 2009, with future plans to connect the memorial to the east gate of Memorial Stadium.

“Clemson University has a very strong military heritage, and a critical part of this heritage is represented by these 468 alumni who gave the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country,” said Col. Danny Rhodes, Clemson alumnus and co-chairman of the Scroll of Honor Memorial committee. “We have an obligation to perpetuate the memory of theses sacrifices, and the Scroll of Honor Memorial and the Web site will help us to do so.”
