EASLEY — After graduating the county’s largest class in 2009, Pickens County and Clemson University’s Institute for Economic and Community Development will again offer the FastTrac entrepreneurs program with classes beginning in the new year.

FastTrac programs are designed to help entrepreneurs hone skills needed to create, manage and grow successful businesses. Experienced entrepreneurs present the programs and guest speakers supplement their knowledge.

Classes begin at 6 p.m. Jan. 19 at the Hampton Memorial Library at 304 Biltmore Road in Easley.

Sign up for the program online at www.fasttracsc.org, by calling 803-699-3179 or via e-mail at wculler@clemson.edu.

The classes are facilitated by Will Culler with the Clemson Institute for Economic and Community Development and the University Center for Economic Development at the Sandhill Research and Education Center in Columbia.

Culler is Clemson’s statewide representative for FastTrac, a coalition of education and business groups.

“Interaction with peers and experienced entrepreneurs provides FastTrac participants a level of knowledge and support they could never get from a book or software,” Culler said.

In September, the program graduated 31 budding entrepreneurs and small business owners, the largest-ever graduating class in Pickens County. Graduates came from an array of professions, including an organic farmer and a musician.
