CLEMSON — Clemson University offers outstanding academic quality and an affordable price tag, according to the editors of Kiplinger magazine.
Clemson is ranked No. 33 in the financial magazine’s, “Best Values in Public Colleges for 2009-2010,” which highlights institutions that offer top-quality educations at reasonable prices.
“In this economic climate, everyone is concerned about value, quality and return on investment, and these are all important factors parents and prospective students consider when choosing a college," said Clemson admissions director Robert Barkley. "The Kiplinger ranking supports the observations of many who are well aware of the value of a Clemson education, the quality of the Clemson experience and the return on investment after graduation.”
Magazine staffers researched more than 500 public colleges and universities across the United States to determine the list of the top 100 best buys.
In-state students at Clemson pay $5,539 per semester and out-of-state students pay $12,694 per semester. Each figure excludes room and board, lab fees, library fees and differential costs related to a major. Ninety-nine percent of in-state entering freshmen receive a state scholarship.
Kiplinger researchers balanced the cost of attending an institution with its financial aid availability, student retention rates and graduation rates to determine the top 100. For more information go to http://www.kiplinger.com/tools/colleges/.
