Five Clemson alumni receive Distinguished Service Awards

CLEMSON — The Clemson Alumni Association has presented five alumni the Distinguished Service Award, the university’s highest alumni honor.
The Alumni Association annually recognizes alumni who demonstrate a dedication to enhancing the value of the university for future generations; service to church, community, profession and public service; and personal accomplishments that serve as a model for present and future Clemson students.
This year’s award recipients are:
- Thomas F. Chapman of Atlanta, Ga., Class of 1965, a business leader whose generous support will shape future generations of leaders graduating from Clemson;
- Jerry D. Handegan of Central, Class of 1965, a fraternity alumnus who leads fundraising efforts to allow others access to a quality Clemson education;
- Bartow S. “Bo” Shaw Jr. of Sumter, Class of 1963, a forest management executive whose expertise benefits the region, the state and the university;
- Thomas “Larry” Sloan of Greer, Class of 1974, a Tiger Band alumnus who gives of his time and money to make sure the band marches on; and
- Joseph M. Todd of Greenville, Class of 1979, a Clemson parent who goes above and beyond to help Clemson.
