CLEMSON — Clemson University’s Video Production Services has won seven Telly Awards that honor the very best local, regional and cable television commercials and programs, video and film productions.
The annual Telly Awards receive more than 11,000 entries from all 50 states and countries around the world.
"Expeditions with Patrick McMillan," a PBS nature series, won four awards. The series airs at 7:30 p.m. Sundays on SCETV and is distributed nationally to PBS affiliates. An episode on biodiversity in South Carolina’s Port Royal Sound won silver, the top award. Three episodes won bronze, or second place: two episodes on the Valdivian Rainforest in Chile and one on the Great Bear Rainforest in Canada.
A 30-second commercial for the Atlantic Coast Conference nationally televised football and basketball games won two awards: both silver and bronze. Graduate students in Clemson’s Digital Production Arts program developed the animation that featured an asteroid in the shape of a paw crashing to earth and spreading across the globe, highlighting exotic locations where Clemson students were attending classes abroad.
Finally, a 10-minute video on Clemson’s PGA golf management program won a bronze award. The video is used as a recruitment tool for the program.
