CLEMSON — The Clemson University Foundation board added one new director and elected a new chairwoman and vice chairman.
Edgar James Duckworth of Atlanta joined the board for a four-year term. Jane S. Sosebee of Clemson was elected chairwoman and G. Graham “Goz” Segars Jr. of Hartsville vice chairman.
Duckworth received his degree in civil engineering from Clemson University in 1961. He is vice president of investment for MorganStanleySmithBarney. Duckworth is a longtime member of Clairmont Presbyterian Church and is on several committees. He also is a member and officer of Atlanta Jaycees. He has been an active member of the Atlanta Clemson Club for many years and is an avid supporter of all Clemson sports teams. He and his wife, Jane, have three children, two of whom are Clemson graduates.
Sosebee is director of legislative affairs for AT&T in South Carolina and has more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. She is a 1978 Clemson graduate with a bachelor's degree in English. Sosebee is former chairwoman of Upstate Alliance, the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Innovate Anderson. She and her husband, Greg, have two daughters.
Segars is president and owner of Segars Development. He is a 1966 Clemson graduate with a bachelor's degree in agronomy. He is chairman of the Coker College board of trustees, a member of the Florence Darlington Technical College Educational Foundation board and chairman of the Heritage Community Bank board. He served on the Clemson University Board of Visitors prior to joining the foundation board in 2006. He and his wife, Pat, have five children.
The Clemson University Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) entity organized solely to promote the welfare and future development of Clemson University. It was chartered in 1933 to support the university’s educational and scientific goals. It is the responsibility of the board of directors to manage and disburse assets prudently within a policy that encourages the enhancement of the resources of the foundation.
