CLEMSON — Curtis A. Brewer, assistant professor in Clemson University’s Eugene T. Moore School of Education, has been selected to be a fellow of the South Carolina Education Policy Fellowship Program for 2010-2011.

During the 10-month program fellows meet monthly to discuss education policy development and its role on local and state education systems. Fellows also meet with officials in the private and public sectors.

“In addition to my teaching, my research focuses on how policy develops and how certain policy designs are chosen over other approaches,” Brewer said. “This program will increase my own understanding of policy development and put me in contact with others who are worried about similar issues.”

The program operates under the Education Policy Fellowship Program of the Institute for Educational Leadership in Washington, D.C. The Institute for Educational Leadership supervises fellowship programs in 11 states and the District of Columbia that have more than 6,000 fellows and other professionals.

Brewer worked as a middle school teacher in Texas before receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
