CLEMSON — Andrea L. MacMeccan of Greer has been named Volunteer of the Year by the Clemson University Alumni Association.
MacMeccan graduated from Clemson in 1999 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned her master’s from Clemson in 2000. She is a vice president and process-design consultant for Bank of America.
She is on the Alumni Association board of directors and previously was on the Alumni Council. She is past chairwoman of the Women’s Alumni Council and former president of the Atlanta Clemson Club.
MacMeccan is an advocate for the American Cancer Society and has been involved for more than 10 years as a member of the society’s Grand Fundraiser Club. She serves on the executive committee for the 2011 Relay for Life event in Greenville.
She and her husband, Robert, also a Clemson alumnus, have been consistent donors to the university since graduation. They have two children.
"Andrea's commitment to Clemson is remarkable. Not only does she spend countless hours volunteering and leading alumni events and initiatives, but she also always finds time to encourage and inspire those around her. Because of these reasons and her unwavering love for Clemson, the staff felt it only fitting to recognize her with this honor," said Wil Brasington, senior director of alumni relations.
Presented annually since 1988, the Alumni Association Volunteer of the Year award is the highest recognition and greatest expression of appreciation extended to an individual by the Alumni Association staff for outstanding service and volunteerism.
