CLEMSON — Is justice blind, or does she keep an eye out for the opportunity to set public policy? Hear Supreme Court specialist Thomas C. Goldstein’s views on the U.S. Supreme Court’s role in American life. Goldstein is the Calhoun Lecture Series speaker at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Self Auditorium at the Strom Thurmond Institute at Clemson University. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Goldstein is an attorney known as an advocate before and blogger about the Supreme Court of the United States. He was a founding partner of Goldstein and Howe, a Washington, D.C., firm specializing in Supreme Court litigation, and now is a partner at Akin Gump, where he is co-head of litigation and Supreme Court practice. In 2003, he co-founded SCOTUSblog, one of the most widely read blogs covering the Supreme Court, and continues to be a contributing editor, providing analyses and summaries of Supreme Court decisions and cert petitions.
He earned his law degree from American University's Washington College of Law and his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
The Calhoun Lecture Series brings cutting-edge policy conversation to the people of South Carolina with national and international lecturers. The series also allows speakers to become more familiar with South Carolina and Clemson University through meetings with classes, students and faculty groups.
