Five Clemson University alumni receive Distinguished Service Award

CLEMSON — The Clemson University Alumni Association has presented five alumni the Distinguished Service Award, the university’s highest alumni honor.
The association annually recognizes alumni who demonstrate a dedication to enhancing the value of the university for future generations; church, professional and public service; and personal accomplishments that serve as a model for present and future Clemson students.
This year’s award recipients are:
- Chalmers R. “Hap” Carr Jr. of Clemson, Class of 1960, a retired Air Force officer who has led Clemson’s efforts to remember and honor its military heritage;
- Harold Douglas Kingsmore of Clemson, Class of 1955, a trustee emeritus and former Tiger baseball standout who became a leader in the textile industry and a leader for Clemson;
- Wilbur Owens “Billy” Powers of Florence, an entrepreneur who built his construction company from the ground up and whose support for Clemson has grown alongside his business;
- Charles Kenneth Watt of Kennesaw, Ga., Class of 1959, an entrepreneur and electronics engineer whose experience and expertise spans government, private industry and academics with longstanding support for research and scholastic excellence at Clemson; and
- Kimberlee Allen Wilkerson of Cayce, Class of 1980, Clemson life trustee (July 2011) and Bank of America South Carolina president whose decades of dedication to Clemson and the overall advancement of education in South Carolina has positively impacted the state’s economy.
