FLORENCE — The Florence/Darlington Stormwater Consortium will host a permeable pavement workshop May 12 for engineers, architects, landscape architects, developers, contractors and stormwater professionals.

The workshop is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Surface Water Treatment Plant, 2598 Florence Harllee Boulevard in Florence.

The cost is $40 and includes lunch. Registration is required by May 4 and the class is limited to 50 people. Register online at http://shopping.clemson.edu (search for "workshop"). For more information, call Terasa Young at 843-661-4800, ext. 113, or terasa@clemson.edu.

The class features an overview of permeable pavements and pervious concrete hydrological and structural design, among other topics.

Permeable pavement is a viable hardscaping alternative with many structural, economic, water quality and storage benefits.

Engineers who complete the workshop will receive three professional development credits.

The Florence/Darlington Stormwater Consortium is a regional collaboration involving Clemson University's Carolina Clear program in partnership with communities and educators from universities, state agencies and nonprofit groups.
