CLEMSON — Three Columbia area students have been elected to the Clemson University Undergraduate Student Senate.
Colton Cipkala, a sophomore from Columbia majoring in general engineering; Jayme Looper, a senior from Columbia majoring in bioengineering; and Phillip Westbrook, a sophomore from Lexington majoring in biological sciences, will serve the Senate for the 2011-2012 academic year.
The Undergraduate Student Senate is made up of 64 students who represent all academic classes and the university's five colleges. Senators draft and vote on amendments, bills and resolutions that affect all areas of student life at Clemson. Senate committees focus on different areas of the Clemson experience, ranging from academic affairs to health and human services.
The Senate works closely with Clemson administrators, faculty, staff and students to accomplish its goals each year.
