CLEMSON — David Wyman is the 2011 recipient of the Excellence-in-Teaching Award presented by Clemson University Undergraduate Student Government.

Wyman is interim director of the Arthur M. Spiro Institute for Entrepreneurial Leadership at Clemson. He teaches executive leadership and entrepreneurship.

“One of the best qualities David Wyman has is his positive attitude. Even if the most stupid thing is said in class, he turns it into something positive,” said one nominating student. “He also will critique our speeches, always emphasizing the positive things that were done. I know that by the end of the semester I will have learned more about life and the workplace than I would have by taking notes about it, and I feel that is what makes a great teacher.”

One student said Wyman deserves the Excellence-in-Teaching Award because “he manages to teach without students realizing that he’s teaching. He demands the best because he knows his students are capable of the best.”

The Excellence-in-Teaching Award recognizes a professor for outstanding performance in the undergraduate classroom and carries a $2,500 prize.
