CLEMSON — The Clemson University Climbing Club recently won the Southeast Regional Collegiate Climbing Series for the second year in a row.

Founded in the spring of 2009, the Clemson University Climbing Club sends a team of students each year to multiple competitions held by the Collegiate Climbing Series. Clemson’s club competes under the Southeast regional division.

In the competition, climbers must complete multiple routes of varying difficulties on climbing walls. While climbing styles may vary, the most popular in competition is bouldering: short, fast climbs performed without ropes or harnesses.

Competitors are scored individually and as a group. A climber’s top four scores throughout the year’s competitions are combined to form his or her personal score, and colleges are scored by combining each team member’s personal score.

This year’s individual overall Collegiate Climbing Series winners include Steven Hickson in first place and Camden Clements in third place in the men’s division, and Emily Korth in first place and Allison Anderson in third place in the women’s division.
