Greenville-area residents elected to Clemson University Undergraduate Student Senate

CLEMSON — Several Greenville-area students have been elected to the Clemson University Undergraduate Student Government for the 2011-2012 academic year.

Next year’s senators include:

  • From Greenville — Ian Conits, a junior majoring in political science; McKee Thomason, a senior majoring in economics
  • From Simpsonville — Allison Nelson, a freshman majoring in biochemistry; Laura Tumblin, a junior majoring in bioengineering; Brian Jones, a senior majoring in industrial engineering
  • From Piedmont — Ashton Lee, a sophomore majoring in political science
  • From Powdersville — Carrie Eisengrein, a sophomore majoring in computer information systems
  • From Taylors — Katie Henson, a junior majoring in bioengineering

The Undergraduate Student Senate is made up of 64 students who represent all academic areas and the university's five colleges. Senators draft and vote on amendments, bills and resolutions that impact all areas of student life at Clemson. Senate committees focus on different areas of the Clemson experience, ranging from academic affairs to health and human services.

The Senate works closely with Clemson administrators, faculty, staff and students to accomplish their goals each year.
