CLEMSON — The national Association for Communications Excellence (ACE) has recognized Clemson University's Public Service Activities media staff with four awards for print and online communications: two Gold Awards, one Silver Award and one Bronze Award.
“Clemson Impacts” won the Gold Award in the newsletter category. The statewide newsletter highlights the university’s public service research, Extension and regulatory programs for agriculture, forestry and natural resources. Award recipients are: designer Charlene Mayfield, editor Debbie Dalhouse and writers/photographers Donna Bowen, Peter Hull and Peter Kent. The online version can be viewed at www.clemson.edu/impacts.
The Gold Award in the technology education category went to Donna Bowen, creator, for developing an online training system to teach employees how to use the university’s website content-management system.
The Silver Award in the website category went to Peter Togel, programmer, for developing an online “mall” where shoppers can register for Clemson Extension workshops and 4-H summer camps or purchase publications and DVDs on agriculture, forestry and natural resources. The Bronze Award in the magazine writing category went to Peter Kent for his feature article in Clemson World, the university’s alumni magazine. The feature, “Clemson collaborators take on neglected diseases,” describes how an innovative approach to assigning laboratory research space brought together scientists from widely different backgrounds and led to breakthrough discoveries in medicine.
