Clemson University offering new voluntary separation and retirement incentive plans

Published: July 11, 2011

CLEMSON – Clemson University is offering voluntary separation and retirement incentive plans to eligible employees in several divisions across the university beginning Monday.

The two plans are being offered to employees in select departments based on each division’s strategic plans.

“This is not an exercise in cutting the budget,” President James F. Barker said. “This is about executing the 2020 Road Map by divesting and reallocating funds or positions so that we can invest in strategic priorities.”

A voluntary separation plan is being offered to eligible employees in these areas: Advancement; Clemson Computing and Information Technology; Facilities; Financial Affairs; the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities; Public Service Activities; and Student Affairs.

A retirement incentive program is being offered in Advancement, Clemson Computing and Information Technology, Facilities, Financial Affairs, the General Counsel’s office, Public Service Activities, the Office of Research, Student Affairs and the University Libraries.

Employees who are eligible for the plans will receive letters from university Human Resources. The letters were mailed Monday.

Eligible employees have until Aug. 29 to announce their participation in one of the plans.
