Clemson University Real Estate Foundation board appoints new member

CLEMSON — The Clemson University Real Estate Foundation board of directors appointed Thomas B. McTeer Jr. of Columbia to a four-year term.

The university board of trustees also reappointed two members to the Real Estate Foundation board: William L. “Roy” Abercrombie Jr. of Greenville and Neil C. Robinson Jr. of Mount Pleasant each will serve four-year terms. The Clemson University Foundation reappointed G. Graham “Goz” Segars Jr. of Hartsville to serve a one-year term on the Real Estate Foundation board. 

“We are pleased to have this group of directors on the Real Estate Foundation board,” said Harrison F. Trammell, Real Estate Foundation president and chief executive officer. “We are excited about the individual skills and substantial real estate experience-base each brings, along with a passion for Clemson that they have to offer.”

McTeer received an industrial management degree from Clemson in 1960. He is president of McTeer Real Estate Inc. in Columbia, where he lives with his wife, Mary Frances. McTeer has more than 48 years of real estate expertise with his primary focus over the last 20 years being timber and land investments.

The Real Estate Foundation board also elected George E. Biediger of Greenville chairman and Robinson vice chairman.

Biediger is vice president of project development and investments at Fluor Corp. in Greenville, where he specializes in structuring financing for public-private partnerships and real estate. He is a 1971 Clemson graduate with a bachelor’s degree in economics. He received a master’s degree in economics from Clemson in 1973. Biediger also is on the board of the Clemson University Foundation and the Upcountry History Museum. He and his wife, Belinda, have two daughters.

Robinson is a member of the Nexsen Pruet law firm in Charleston. His real estate experience includes complex real estate transactions; administrative law; development agreements; and industrial, commercial, mixed-use, planned-community, brownfields and resort real estate development. Robinson is a 1966 Clemson graduate with a degree in industrial management. He also is on the board of the Clemson University Foundation and the advancement board for Real Estate Development. He is a Distinguished Service Award recipient. Robinson is chairman of the South Carolina Education Oversight Committee and chairman of the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. He and his wife, Vicki, have three children.

The Clemson University Real Estate Foundation is an independent, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) entity organized solely to advance Clemson University and the Clemson University Foundation through gifts or purchases of real estate and property. It was chartered in 1990 to support the university’s educational and scientific goals. The board of directors is responsible for managing assets prudently through a policy that encourages the enhancement of the resources of the foundation.
