CLEMSON — The Printing Industries of America has honored the 2011 edition of Taps, Clemson University’s yearbook, with the first-place Award of Recognition.

Clemson’s yearbook was selected from more than 2,700 entries across all forms of publishing. The Printing Industries of America distributed awards based on design expertise and the quality of photography, printing and binding.

“I am very proud to have been the editor in chief of the 2011 Taps and I was fortunate to have a great staff to work with,” said Brittany Bundrick, a Clemson student and managing editor for the upcoming 2012 TAPS. “Overall, the attention to detail in our photography, layout design and staff performance assured us that we would be able to produce a quality product for our student body. We hope this is only the beginning of the awards our book will hopefully receive over the next couple of months.”

Taps was one of 21 yearbooks submitted to the competition by the printing company Jostens and was among the 11 Jostens books to receive an award. Jostens of Clarksville, Tenn., printed and bound the book and assisted with the 2011 Taps cover design.

“Claude Saleeby of Spartanburg is our Jostens Sales Representative, and he is always there when we need something,” said Bundrick. “I don't know what we would do without him.”

2011 Taps still are on sale for $85 and can be purchased online at jostensyearbooks.com or by sending a check to the Taps office in the Hendrix Student Center, room 313. The 2012 edition is available for the same price.

“This will be my ninth semester being on the Taps staff, and I'm happy to be back as managing editor,” said Bundrick. “Alec Gibson, the new editor in chief, has great visions for the 2012 Taps, so I'm looking forward to seeing and assisting with another Taps that has award-winning potential.”
