CLEMSON — Adam Witty, a 2003 graduate of Clemson University, received the Young Alumnus of Merit Award from the Clemson Alumni Association.

The Young Alumnus of Merit Award is given to someone who graduated in the past 10 years and recognizes their achievements and contributions to their professions, communities or the university.

The Charleston resident is the founder and CEO of Advantage Media Group, a book publishing, magazine publishing and online education company. What began six years ago in the spare bedroom of his home now is a media company with more than 350 clients around the world.

Witty is the author of “21 Ways to Build Your Business with a Book” and host of internet television shows Author Advantage TV and Entrepreneurs Library TV. Witty also is publisher of Advantage Magazine.

Witty is a speaker, teacher and consultant on marketing and business-development techniques for entrepreneurs and authors, and is a frequent guest on the acclaimed Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour. He has been featured in Investor’s Business Daily, Young Money Magazine and on ABC and FOX. In 2011, Witty was named to Inc. Magazine's prestigious "30 Under 30" list of America's coolest young entrepreneurs. In 2010, Witty was named to the Charleston Regional Business Journal's "40 Under 40" list.

Witty is on the board of directors for MicroCapital, a Peruvian-based microfinance bank and Youth Entrepreneurship South Carolina. He is active in the Charleston Rotary Club, the Palmetto Professional Society and is an active Clemson Fund donor. Witty has returned to campus often since graduation to speak to marketing, economics and entrepreneurship classes.

“Adam has not hesitated to come back to Clemson and serve and interact with students," said Gregory Pickett, associate dean of Clemson's Greenville campus and former chairman of the marketing department. "His blood certainly runs orange and it makes me proud to know that his commitment and service to Clemson will only grow in the years to come.”
