Clemson Student Disability Services staff member named to Brain Injury Association board

CLEMSON — Dede Norungolo of Easley was selected to serve on the Brain Injury Association of South Carolina board of directors. Norungolo is a disability specialist for Clemson University Student Disability Services. 

Norungolo, the survivor of a mild traumatic brain injury, is a 1989 graduate of East Tennessee State University in journalism. In 2008, she graduated from the University of South Carolina with a master of rehabilitation counseling.

The Brain Injury Association of South Carolina is a nonprofit organization whose goal is to help traumatic brain injury survivors and their families. It was formed by survivors and their families, as well as concerned professionals.

Norungolo’s story of injury and transition following brain injury recently was published in a book by Bernie Siegel, “A Book of Miracles.” In her work as a rehabilitation counselor, Norungolo has used Siegel’s books to help individuals return to the community and work.
