LEXINGTON — Carolina Clear has appointed Nell Orscheln as a natural resource Extension agent in Lexington County. She is based at the Lexington County Extension office.
As co-coordinator of the Lexington Countywide Stormwater Consortium, Orscheln will plan and implement targeted stormwater awareness and involvement initiatives in the Midlands with the support of the consortium’s partners. Orscheln also will work to increase program visibility in the region.
She previously worked for Midlands Technical College as an adjunct science instructor and in Washington for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s large aquatic ecosystems and national estuary program.
Orscheln graduated from Eastern Michigan University in 2001 with a bachelor’s degree in geology. In 2006, she received a master’s degree in marine resource management from Oregon State University.
“Nell will prove a valuable addition to this program team,” said Katie Giacalone, Carolina Clear coordinator. “Her background includes teaching, field work and community involvement. Her experience and successes speak to her abilities and passion in these fields.”
The Lexington Countywide consortium is a regional collaboration involving the Carolina Clear program in partnership with communities and educators from universities, state agencies and nonprofits.
