CLEMSON — Roger W. Liska, professor and chairman of construction science and management at Clemson University, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Institute of Contractors (AIC) at the organization’s mid-year meeting in Alexandria, Va.
Liska was recognized in October for his extensive service to the institute and the Constructor Certification Commission. He has been a member of the AIC more than 38 years and was one of the first individuals to be named a Certified Professional Constructor. During his time with the AIC, Liska has been both president of the institute and chairman of the Constructor Certification Commission. Currently, he is the commission secretary and is spearheading the institute’s efforts in earning its AC and CPC Constructor Certification American National Standards Institute Accreditation.
“This award is indicative of Dr. Liska’s dedication to raising the bar of excellence and professionalism for constructors internationally,” said Richard E. Goodstein, dean of Clemson's College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities. “He has been recognized often for his work in integrating the teaching of construction science with the profession in ways that are meaningful and important for all involved. This latest award is well-deserved.”
Liska has been teaching in the construction science and management department 28 years, and has been department chairman twice, most recently beginning in 2008. He continues to serve as director of the Center for the Improvement of Construction Management and Processes and coordinates the master's degree and portfolio requirement for the department.
