CLEMSON — Clemson University, in partnership with Parlor Press LLC, is the new institutional home for the WAC Journal, which publishes innovative research in Writing Across the Curriculum.
Roy Andrews, who will continue in his present capacity as editor, states that despite its global reach, the journal has a very simple goal: to help “students everywhere improve as writers.” Since 2001, the WAC Journal has been published in partnership with the WAC Clearinghouse, where its current issue and archives can be viewed in digital form at http://wac.colostate.edu/journal/.
WAC Clearinghouse editor Mike Palmquist said, “The WAC Journal’s focus on the theory and practice of writing across the curriculum has found a strong audience: readers have downloaded more than 750,000 copies of the articles appearing in its pages.”
For decades Clemson has been an international leader in Writing Across the Curriculum and Writing in the Disciplines, contributing to the university’s selection as TIME’s 2001 Public College of the Year and annual commendations from U.S.News & World Report.
Dean Richard Goodstein of Clemson’s College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, noted that “acquiring and supporting the WAC Journal is another example of Clemson’s longstanding commitment to Writing Across the Curriculum initiatives.”
Goodstein recognized the efforts of professor David Blakesley, Campbell Chair in Technical Communication, and professor Michael LeMahieu, director of the Pearce Center for Professional Communication, who were instrumental in bringing the WAC Journal to Clemson.
