Clemson’s Rutland Institute for Ethics seeks award nominations

Published: February 15, 2012

CLEMSON — The Robert J. Rutland Institute for Ethics at Clemson University invites nominations for its “Bringing Ethics into Focus” Award. To be presented at the institute’s 10th-anniversary gala event Tuesday, April 10, in Greenville, the award will recognize significant efforts to promote a more ethical environment in South Carolina.

Daniel Wueste, director of the institute, said the award recognizes and encourages actions that bring about improvements directly related to the ethical climate and/or culture of any of the life communities: business, education, civic professional or governmental.

“We’re hoping that this award will highlight people and programs in South Carolina that are challenging us to a greater awareness of ethics in our decision-making, our policies and our actions,” Wueste said.

Nominations are being accepted through March 22 and should include a letter that identifies and documents the scope and nature of the accomplishment, paying special attention to the specific action that brought about the desired change or changes. Complete information on criteria and nomination procedures can be found at www.clemson.edu/ethics/RIE/news.html.

The Robert J. Rutland Institute for Ethics at Clemson University is dedicated to nurturing an ethical environment on and off campus. While it has served faculty, students and staff at Clemson for more than 10 years, it also strives to be both a resource and a provider of ethics-based services for several of the most important communities of life: businesses, the professions, government and K-12 education.
