CLEMSON – Tigers for Tigers will hold its second 5K run/one-mile walk in the South Carolina Botanical Garden at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 10. The event is held to help raise awareness of the endangerment of tigers in the wild, and proceeds will benefit the Tiger Trust Fund in India and the Central Florida Animal Reserve.
Tigers are critically endangered with only 3,200 remaining in the wild today, placing the tiger as the third most endangered species in the world. Tigers are predicted to become extinct in the wild within the next 12 years if action is not taken.
Tigers for Tigers is a student organization dedicated to preserving tigers through education, research and service learning on local and global levels. The goal of Tigers for Tigers is to increase awareness and interest in tiger-range countries. Tigers for Tigers hopes to raise $6,400 with the race.
Registration before Friday, Feb. 24, is $20 for the 5K and $10 for the one-mile walk. After Feb. 24, registration will be $25 for the 5K and $15 for the one mile. Advance registration will close Thursday, March 8. Participants can register on-site the day of the race at a cost of $30 for the 5K and $15 for the one mile.
