CLEMSON — The Grammy award-winning female a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock will be in concert at 8 p.m. Thursday, March 8, at Clemson University's Brooks Center for the Performing Arts.

Founded in 1973 by Bernice Johnson Reagon with Mie, Carol Maillard and Louise Robinson at the D.C. Black Repertory Theater Company, Sweet Honey in the Rock has been a vibrant light in the culture of Washington, D.C. and in many communities around the world.

The group’s repertoire includes traditional gospel hymns, blues, spirituals, rap, reggae, African chants, hip-hop, ancient lullabie, and jazz improvisation.

“We are truly honored to be presenting such an accomplished and inspiring ensemble on the Brooks Center stage,” said Brooks Center director Lillian Harder. “Not only is their sound powerful, but the values they stand for and communicate through song are paramount.”

Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and can be purchased online, in person or by phone. Visit www.clemson.edu/Brooks or call the Box Office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
