Student charged with assault, served with trespass notice

CLEMSON — Clemson University police charged a student with assaulting another student and issued a trespass notice to keep him from returning to campus.

James Lee Dunn, 24, a senior biological sciences major from Anderson, was charged Wednesday with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, a felony, and disturbing schools. 

Dunn was involved in an altercation with another student Tuesday evening before a class in Kinard Hall. The victim, who warrants said was struck with a rock and sprayed with pepper spray, was treated at Oconee Memorial Hospital and released.

Dunn was released on $21,000 in personal recognizance bonds.

Police referred the case to the university’s Office of Community and Ethical Standards.
