Physician Edwin Leap to lecture at Clemson University

CLEMSON — Physician Edwin Leap will present “Steps to a Brighter Future for Aspiring Physicians” as the William H. Hunter Endowed Lecture at Clemson University Thursday, March 29. Part of the Calhoun Lecture Series, the lecture will be at 7 p.m. in the Self Auditorium of the Strom Thurmond Institute.

Leap is a graduate of Marshall University with a bachelor's degree in zoology. He received his medical degree from West Virginia University and completed his emergency medicine residency at Methodist Hospital of Indiana. Leap has been in practice for 18 years at Oconee Medical Center as a partner in Blue Ridge Emergency Physicians.

Leap writes twice a month for the Greenville News and an award-winning monthly column for the Emergency Medicine News. His work has been published in several periodicals, including Physician Magazine, Medical Economics Magazine, Focus on the Family Magazine and the S.C. Baptist Courier. His blog has been widely linked on the Internet on sites such as the Los Angeles Times health blog, The Wall Street Journal health blog, KevinMD.com and Get Better Health.

Clemson’s Calhoun Lecture Series brings policy conversation to the people of South Carolina. With support from the Strom Thurmond Institute, the series brings to campus national and international lecturers to impart knowledge to the public and the students of Clemson and surrounding institutions.

Dr. William H. Hunter, a distinguished alumnus of Clemson University, co-founded the Calhoun Lecture Series at Clemson University in 1999. The William H. Hunter Endowed Lecture is devoted to topics in medicine and health in honor of Hunter.
