Published: April 2, 2012

CLEMSON — Explore the world without ever leaving campus during Clemson University’s annual International Awareness Week celebration April 7-15.

The week of events celebrates the many cultures represented in Clemson’s international student population: more than 1,200 students from 88 countries.

A highlight of the week is its final event: the International Food Festival from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 15, on Bowman Field. Students from around the world will showcase food, crafts, clothing and more from their home countries. The festival will feature music, dancing and an international fashion show. Admission to the festival is free, and tickets to purchase food are 50 cents each.

The fifth annual International Children’s Talent Show is another popular event during the week. Area children of many nationalities will show off their talents, including singing, dancing, acrobatics, poetry, storytelling, magic and more in the show, which will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Arts Center in Clemson. The show is free and open to the public.

The Association for India’s Development (AID) presents World of Dance at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 13, in Tillman Hall auditorium. An International Awareness Week tradition, the show features dance performances from around the world. Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for the general public. Indian food will be available for purchase during intermission. Proceeds from the show benefit AID, which supports community development projects in rural India.
