Clemson student athletes to host Be a TIGER Field Day

Published: April 9, 2012

CLEMSON — Clemson University’s student athlete advisory committee will hold the Ninth Annual Be a TIGER Field Day for area children from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, on the lawn of Littlejohn Coliseum. The event is free for all kids up to 9th grade.

Representatives from every Clemson sports team will be at the event that features educational activities that emphasize the “TIGER” characteristics – Teamwork, Integrity, Gratitude, Education and Respect. There will be music with a DJ, snacks, free T-shirts and bracelets and autograph signings.

“Community service is very important to the student athletes at Clemson because it gives us an opportunity to be role models and encourage kids to do their best inside and outside of school,” said Taylor Hoynacki, a senior on Clemson’s rowing team. “We teach them about the ‘TIGER’ traits we believe to be positive lifestyle characteristics to be successful. We really enjoy the interaction with the kids and community.”

The field day will be followed by the football team’s spring game at 4 p.m. at Memorial Stadium. The spring game is also a free public event.
