CLEMSON — Clemson University has hired Dave Frock, director of campus recreation at Colorado State University, to be its new executive director of campus recreation.

Prior to his position at Colorado State, Frock was academic chairman and director of recreation in the wellness, fitness and sports department at the College of Southern Maryland. He continues to serve on the faculty there, teaching online courses in risk management and sports law.

“We are pleased to have been able to recruit someone of Dave’s caliber and reputation in the field of campus recreation,” said George Smith, associate vice president for student affairs. “We are excited about the opportunities his leadership will bring to our campus and community.”

Frock earned a Bachelor of Science with Distinction in secondary education from Pennsylvania State University. He earned a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in hospitality management from Colorado State University and holds a master's certificate in college student personnel administration from James Madison University. He is a doctoral candidate in organizational performance and change, higher education, at Colorado State University.

Frock has held key leadership positions with the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) as chairman of the National Professional/Student Development Committee, former chairman and adviser to the National Conference Career Opportunities Center and chairman of the National Facilities Symposium. He also was NIRSA state director for Virginia.

Part of the Division of Student Affairs, Clemson’s department of campus recreation includes Fike Recreation Center, fitness programs, intramural and club sports, outdoor recreation, the Campus Beach and Recreation Area on Hartwell Lake and the Underground Recreation Center in the University Union.
