July 6
FIRST FRIDAY GARDEN WALK

Meet with naturalist David Bradshaw for an unforgettable tour of the garden. Walks are offered the first Friday of every month, but no two outings are the same.
Fee: Free
Time: 7 a.m. (April through September)
Location: Meet in caboose parking lot

July 6
AQUATIC ADVENTURE

Travel through the water cycle in a fun game, create an edible aquifer and make a splash in the pond. Each participant will make and take home a rain stick and water cycle wristband. Register at least three days in advance.
Fee: $7 per participant ($6 for members and volunteers)
Time: 2-4 p.m.
Location: Hanson Nature Learning Center

July 7
HUNT CABIN OPEN HOUSE

Step back into the 1800s at the historic Hunt Cabin. Join Garden educator Sue Watts and visiting craftsmen to learn about life on the South Carolina frontier. Listen to tall tales and folk tales and experience some of the chores and entertainment of the past.
Fee: Donations to the Hunt Cabin Fund
Time: 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

July 9-13
YOGA NATURE CAMP

Yoga instructor Renee Warren Gahan and naturalist Sue Watts present a unique camp for children ages 8-12. Begin the morning with some fun yoga poses: be an eagle in a tree, a tall sunflower or a stretchy caterpillar. Learn yoga postures and special breathing to help you become happy and healthy. The camp includes a snack, Garden exploration, nature-based games and activities, and art.
Fee: $100
Time: 9 a.m.-noon (Dropoff: 8:30–9 a.m.)

July 14
CRUSTY BREAD AND CREAMY BUTTER

Join local home baker Neil Calkin to learn how to create perfect bread every time. While the dough rises you’ll create flavorful herb and spice butters to go with your bread.
Fee: $35 ($30 members and volunteers)
Time: 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Location: Hanson Nature Learning Center

July 16-20
LIVE THE PAST!

History comes alive in this weeklong camp for children ages 7-14. Spend mornings at the Hunt Cabin learning survival skills needed in the 1800s. Learn how to build a cabin, cook over an open hearth, track animals, make cloth and much more.
Fee: $100
Time: 9 a.m.-noon (Dropoff: 8:30–9 a.m.)

July 20

FAMILY SATURDAY: SEARCHING FOR SALAMANDERS, CATCHING CRAYFISH AND FINDING FROGS

Spend a warm day splashing in and around the Garden's streams looking for reptiles and amphibians. In the process you’ll learn more about the ecology of these valuable habitats and meet some of their other inhabitants. Wear waterproof shoes. Space is limited so pre-registration is required.
Fee: $5 ($4 for members and volunteers)
Time: 10-11.30 a.m.

Art Gallery
Featured Artist: Jan Galusza, 365 nature-based watercolors
Visit the Fuller Galleries to see a rotating collection of artwork by artisans inspired by the materials, nature and beauty of the Upstate. A portion of the sale proceeds benefits the S.C. Botanical Garden. There also is a permanent display of Elizabeth Belser Fuller’s extensive collection of wildflower and nature paintings.
Gallery Hours: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday.
Admission: Free

Geology Museum
The Bob Campbell Geology Museum houses an impressive collection of more than 10,000 rocks, minerals, fossils, lapidary objects (carvings, gemstones) and artifacts (mining equipment, Native American tools). Educational tours are available Tuesday-Friday. Hours: 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 1–5 p.m. Sunday. Museum admission: $3/adults and $2/children 12 and under. General Information
The South Carolina Botanical Garden is located on the Clemson University campus at the intersection of Highway 76 and Perimeter Road. The Garden encompasses 295 acres of display gardens, nature trails, woodlands and streams, and is open year-round from dawn to dusk, free of charge. Discovery Center and Garden Gift Shop hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The Garden is partially supported by the state of South Carolina via Clemson University, but relies on private funding, memberships and proceeds from educational events to support operations.
