CLEMSON — Denise Godwin, workers’ compensation coordinator in the office of risk management at Clemson University, recently won the International Speak-Off at the annual meeting of the International Association of Insurance Professionals (IAIP) in Dallas.
The speak-off is part of Communicate with Confidence (CWC), a prestigious program offered to association members. The program allows participants to enhance their communication skills.
Godwin completed the Communicate with Confidence program in 2011 and won the state and regional competitions by presenting three-minute prepared speeches and completing one-minute impromptu speeches.
"We are so proud that Denise has achieved this honor," said Chip Hood, general counsel for Clemson University. "It is a testament to her hard work and dedication and is representative of the caliber of staff we have at Clemson University."
Godwin has worked in the office of risk management for four years and handles all workers’ compensation claims.
The International Association of Insurance Professionals is an association of insurance professionals dedicated to the development of leaders in the insurance and risk management industries, through education, networking and industry alliances. IAIP represents every facet of the insurance and risk management industries. Members belong to approximately 350 local associations across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands, Australia, Africa, Kuwait, Bermuda, India and Mongolia.
