CLEMSON — Who could have guessed that one Christmas recording could kick-start a pairing that would one day become bluegrass gold? It happened for Dailey & Vincent, who will perform at Clemson’s Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1.
In 2003, Koch Records was putting an album together for the holiday season and asked Jamie Dailey and Darrin Vincent to come together on the track “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem” for their Christmas Grass, Vol. 2, 2004 edition. A few years later, the success of this original pairing led the two performers who each grew up singing and playing music with their families to create Dailey & Vincent.
They’ve been named “Bluegrass Music Entertainers of the Year” and “Vocal Group of the Year” for three consecutive years.
“I’ve been wanting to bring Dailey & Vincent to the Brooks Center for some time,” said director Lillian “Mickey” Harder. “Bluegrass music has such a strong presence and following in our area, so it was important that I bring one of the best groups in the business to Clemson.”
Tickets for the performance are $25 for adults and $10 for students and are available for purchase online at www.clemson.edu/Brooks and through the box office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
