Clemson University comptroller named chairman of national association board

CLEMSON — Clemson University comptroller Charles Tegen has been named the 2012-13 chairman of the board of the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).

Tegen has served in various finance roles at Clemson since joining the university staff in 1979.  His office is responsible for accounting for the university and related organizations, cash and treasury services, student financial services and tax reporting.

He has been an active member of both the national association and the Southern Association of College and University Business Officers. He’s served as  a member of the national organization’s board since 2008 and was president of the Southern association  from 2009 to 2010.

”NACUBO is focused to assist business officers across the United States and internationally to contribute to their college and university’s success in educating students,” Tegen said. “It is an honor to have a leadership role In NACUBO.”

Tegen said the professional development and networking opportunities offered by the association are important for university financial officers, who are focused on the success of the strategic direction of their institutions.

The association’s members represent more than 2,500 colleges, universities and other higher education service providers in the U.S. and around the world. Now in its 50th year, the association’s mission is to advance the economic viability and business practices of higher education institutions in fulfillment of their academic missions.

“Charles Tegen has demonstrated an unsurpassed commitment to higher education and his profession for over 30 years,” said Brett Dalton, vice president for finance and operations at Clemson. “Clemson University has been blessed to benefit from Charles’ extensive knowledge, endless curiosity, responsible creativity and unshakable integrity and judgment.
