CLEMSON — Join the Clemson University Drumline, Steel Band and Percussion Ensemble for an evening of rhythm and high energy at the CU Percussion Extravaganza at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts.
The Percussion Ensemble will perform such pieces as “Suite No. 1” by Fred Emory Smith, "Bolero" by Eustasio Rosala and arranged by Clair Omar Musserbu and “Sharps,” by Brian Nozny, which has powerful rhythms and a “wall of sound” created by six multitonal triangles.
The Steel Band will present traditional soca and calypso tunes, as well as such classic tunes as “Fool in the Rain” by Led Zeppelin, “Here Comes the Sun” by George Harrison and “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison.
The Drumline, directed by instructor Lance Curry, will perform popular cadences, such as "Ozoniferous," "Jammin’" and "Ubuntu." They will close the show with their longstanding tradition of performing "Go Go Gettem’ Gettem’."
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and are available for purchase online at www.clemson.edu/Brooks and through the Box Office at 864-656-7787 from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.
