CLEMSON — Molly Espey, professor of economics in Clemson University’s College of Business and Behavioral Science, recently received the 2012 Southern region United States Department of Agriculture Food and Agricultural Sciences Excellence in Teaching Award.
It was presented at the annual meeting of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities in Denver.
Espey spent most of her career as a faculty member in Clemson’s College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences before moving to the economics department in the College of Business and Behavioral Science in August 2011.
She has fully embraced a new challenge while continuing to teach and advise students in agricultural and applied economics, as well as students in environmental and natural resources, all while taking on new teaching and advising responsibilities, according to Raymond Sauer, chairman of the economics department.
She’s now finishing her third semester in the college using innovative, team-oriented approaches to teaching.
Espey’s breadth of engagement and willingness to contribute to building an environment of inquiry and learning across programs and colleges led Sauer to nominate her for the regional USDA Excellence in Teaching Award.
