Water resources agent joins Carolina Clear and Clemson Extension

CHARLESTON — Carolina Clear and Clemson Extension have appointed C. Guinn Garrett as a water resources agent for Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties

She works with the Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium to help plan and implement targeted stormwater awareness and involvement initiatives with the support of the consortium’s partners. She also works to increase the program’s visibility across the Lowcountry.

Garrett brings a wealth of experience in program development, soil and water conservation and stormwater and water-quality management. Most recently she worked for the town of Mount Pleasant to assist its stormwater management plan and land disturbance regulations.  

Garrett is a 2007 graduate of Furman University with a bachelor’s degree in earth and environmental science and a 2010 graduate of the College of Charleston with a master’s degree in environmental studies.

The Ashley Cooper Stormwater Education Consortium is a regional collaboration involving the Carolina Clear program in partnership with communities and educators from universities, state agencies and nonprofits.

The consortium includes Berkeley, Dorchester and Charleston counties; and Charleston, North Charleston, Summerville, Goose Creek, Isle of Palms, Folly Beach, Sullivan’s Island and Lincolnville. These communities proactively address water quality and water quantity protection through development of an aware and actively involved public.

Carolina Clear
Carolina Clear is a stormwater education and involvement program of the Clemson University Restoration Institute and the Center for Watershed Excellence. The program’s goal is to minimize polluted stormwater runoff by educating the general public, youth, builders, developers, homeowners and government officials about how they can keep water in the state’s streams, rivers and basins as clean as possible.
