Published: March 25, 2013

CLEMSON — Clemson students want to share their love of writing with Upstate high-schoolers in a Young Writers’ Workshop. Part of the Clemson Literary Festival, the workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, at the Hendrix Student Center.

The Young Writers' Workshop is event designed to encourage Upstate high school students’ interests in creative writing. Students will learn poetry and prose techniques from nationally acclaimed poets and fiction writers. In the past, students have had the opportunity to work with such writers as Laura Van Den Berg, Angelina Oberdan and John Warner. Lunch will be provided.

“The Young Writers Workshop not only builds students’ creative writing skill sets, it lets them know that they have peers who share their interests and gives them role models whose work they can aspire to,” said event coordinator Dorsey Craft, a senior English major.

Participants in the Young Writers' Workshop must be high school students with a strong interest in creative writing. Applications for participation in the workshop are being accepted through March 31. For more information, contact student director Dorsey Craft at dcraft@clemson.edu or 803-747-9515.
