Dr. Eidson is Professor of Biological Sciences at Clemson University where he teaches restoration ecology and serves on the committees of Ph.D. candidates studying aquatic and restoration ecology. He is the director of the Institute of Applied Ecology and the Belle W. Baruch Institute for Coastal Ecology and Forest Science. He leads the environmental efforts of the Clemson University Restoration Institute and is founding director of the Center for Applied Ecology and Center for Watershed Excellence which are housed in the Restoration Institute. He also serves as adjunct faculty at the University of Georgia’s Odum School of Ecology.
Dr. Eidson is Founder, President, and CEO of Southeastern Natural Sciences Academy, a 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational institute headquartered in Augusta, Georgia. The Academy has developed Phinizy Swamp Nature Park and the Center for Urban River Research in Augusta, Georgia through restoration of a 6000-acre floodplain swamp and the Center for Ecological Restoration in Ridgeway, South Carolina through restoration of the 2000-acre closed Kennecott-Ridgeway Gold Mine. Both venues have education and research facilities that support K-12 education, undergraduate and graduate research, and public outreach.
