EXPERIENCE

Prior to joining the Clemson faculty in 2003, Dr. Luo worked
in the industry for more than two years with Lucent Technologies
Inc. and OFS Fitel/Furukawa Electric Co. in Norcross, Georgia.
Luo is a National
Science Foundation CAREER award recipient (2005) and an Air
Force Office of Scientific Research Young Investigator (2007).

RESEARCH
Dr. Luo's current
research interests include (but are not limited to): surfaces
and interfaces; nanostructured thin films; materials for energy
applications (functional oxides and silicon); optical materials
and fibers; sintering; microstructural evolution; and materials
characterization.
