Clemson extension's deer field dressing video now on DVD

CLEMSON – In 2002, two Clemson Extension specialists, Rick Willey and Libby Hoyle put together a VHS video for hunters on how to quickly and safely field dress, skin and quarter whitetail deer.  It is now available on DVD.

The DVD is about 30 minutes long and is narrated by Charles Ruth, deer project supervisor with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources, who demonstrates a unique skinning and dressing technique that he perfected during his previous work at a commercial deer-hunting plantation. It also includes a segment on the field dressing of whitetail dear.

“Hunters need to be especially mindful of time and temperature,” said Libby Hoyle, retired Clemson extension food and nutrition specialist. “This DVD helps hunters be prepared, so they can quickly get the meat on ice and then to the processor.”

The DVD sells for $14.50.  To order, contact the Clemson extension office in your county or online at: http://dprod4.clemson.edu/olos/asp/searchmain.asp.  The title is “White Tail Deer: Field Care and Handling.”  Publication code is DVD 004.
