Forum scheduled for forest landowners

LEXINGTON – The Lexington County Forest Landowners Association will host an educational forum for landowners from all over the state April 3 at the South Carolina State Museum in Columbia.

“Landowners will hear a lot of information that will help them manage their forest land to its fullest potential,” said Beth Richardson, Clemson Extension agent for forestry and wildlife.

A $20 registration fee will be charged.

Speakers will cover subjects such as deer management, planting for wildlife, herbicides, the economics of hardwoods, pine management, pinestraw management, surveying, estate planning and property rights.

Attendees will hear from three landowners – Brooks Lawton of Allendale County, Pat Dorn of Richland County and Walt McPhail of Anderson County.

The program begins with registration at 8 a.m. and concludes around 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be served.
