Certified chef to teach 4-H cooking camp
PICKENS — Pickens County 4-H is offering a cooking camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 9-11 for youngsters aged 12 to 15 years old who are interested in the culinary field.
The cost is $50 per child, which includes a book with the recipes, apron and lunch each day.
Participants do not have to be a 4-H member to participate. The program will be taught by a certified chef. It will include knife skills, butchering a chicken, Mise en Place (everything in its place), piping, carving, garnishing, cooking methods, sauces, baking basics, sanitation and food safety, menu planning and controlling food costs.
Each participant needs to bring a boning knife and a chef's knife, if available.
