Bring Your Daughter to Clemson Weekend set for May 17-18

CLEMSON  – The Clemson Women’s Alumni Council will host its 10th annual Bring Your Daughter to Clemson Weekend May 17-18.

Girls ages 6 to 17 are invited to campus where they will get a personal orientation to the college experience by staying overnight in a residence hall; meeting professors, admissions staff, students and athletes; and exploring non-traditional career opportunities.

Because it's the 10th anniversary, the theme of the weekend is “Celebrating Our Past, Present and Future.”

Girls can get hands-on experience in various exploratory tracks, including Math Out of the Box, Mechanical Engineering for Girls, Graphic Communications, Ice Cream Flavor Development and Production and an Entomology activity with Monarch butterflies. Participants can also explore the Brooks Center with theater activities and see a simulated hospital environment. Different activities and tracks are designed for specific age groups: elementary school, middle school and high school.

The girls will stay overnight in the Stadium Suites residence hall. The weekend will conclude with the “Breakfast of Champions,” a signature event of the weekend, which includes a visit from the Tiger and Clemson coaches and athletes. To cap off the weekend, participants will rub Howard’s Rock and run down The Hill at Memorial Stadium.

Registration opens Tuesday, April 1, and is available online at alumni.clemson.edu/women/bydregistration.htm. Registration is limited to the first 200 attendees. Fathers are welcome to attend with their daughters and non-alumni are also welcome to bring a daughter, granddaughter, niece or friend to experience Clemson.

The Clemson Women’s Alumni Council was founded in 1990 as a constituency group of the Clemson Alumni Association. For more information, visit alumni.clemson.edu/women.
