Founder’s Day event celebrates life of Thomas Green Clemson
CLEMSON – Clemson University will honor its founder, Thomas Green Clemson, with its annual Founder’s Day service at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Pendleton.
The program will highlight different aspects of Thomas Green Clemson’s life and legacy, from his poetic and musical compositions to his contributions as the founder of Clemson University. Students and faculty will give scripture readings and musical performances, and Clemson President James F. Barker will conclude the ceremony by laying a wreath on the grave of Thomas Green Clemson.
Founder’s Day is hosted every year by Tiger Brotherhood. The event is free and open to the public.
“While Founder’s Day is celebrated on the anniversary of Thomas Green Clemson’s death, Tiger Brotherhood takes the opportunity to celebrate and educate people on the life of an amazing man who, among many accomplishments, founded Clemson University,” said Tiger Brotherhood president Amanda McDonald, a senior political science major from Tomball, Texas.
