Clemson honors fraternity and sorority chapters
CLEMSON – The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life at Clemson University selected several fraternities and sororities to receive chapter awards.
To be considered for an award, sororities and fraternities have to meet the minimum expectations in anti-hazing, academics, advising, financial management, community standards, administrative management, new-member education and risk management. All chapters are required to turn in an annual report that shows they accomplished the minimum requirements.
Chapters also must show excellence in social policy requirements, responsible citizenship, intellectual development, defined and organized recruitment and goal-planning.
The awards are divided into three categories: Chapter of Merit (excellence in three areas), Chapter of Achievement (excellence in four areas) and Chapter of Excellence (excellence in all five areas).
Kappa Alpha Theta sorority received the only Chapter of Excellence award. Chi Omega sorority received the only Chapter of Achievement award.
Five were named Chapters of Merit: Alpha Chi Omega sorority, Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Kappa Delta sorority, Sigma Chi fraternity, Delta Sigma Theta sorority and Sigma Gamma Rho sorority.
The chapters will be recognized at a reception at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at the Clemson House penthouse.
